What if your child understood what the question was asking on the SAT or ACT test?

What if your child could raise the math score up to 100 points on the SAT or move the math ACT score up 2-3 levels?

I took Mr. D’s SAT prep class. My results blew me out of the water! I raised my score 100 points from the last time I had taken the SAT. He helped me to achieve my best and showed me exactly what to expect when it came to this apprehended test. I couldn’t have done it without him

2 simple steps for solving word problems.

People often think to read the problem from beginning to end as the best 1st step in solving a word problem.  In math, that is not always the best idea.  Because math is its own language which uses English words (if you speak English) many of the words have nothing to do with the question.

Here is how it is usually taught:
Read the problem thoroughly.  Then go back and look for key words to solve the problem.  Come up with a plan and then solve the problem.

The problem with that is simple.  You have not dealt with the ture 1st step in solving a word problem.  That step is “what is the question” that you are answering.

Simply put, find then question first.  It is usually not at the begining of the problem but rather the end.

The 2 simple steps for solving word problems:

1)  Find the question!
2)  Answer the question!

Most people spend time trying to figure out the important information or what the problem is about to the point that they tend to make up their own question about the problem or just be completely confused!

To see an example of the 2 simple steps
take a look at the Mr. D Math SAT Prep sample:

When getting ready to study for an upcoming test ask your teacher:
1)  What kind of you will be taking.  Multiple choice, fill in the blank, essay
2)  Are there any sample tests you can look at
AND THE BEST OF ALL!  (THIS REALLY WORKS)
3)  Ask your teacher if they were going to take their own test, how would they study for it.

(teachers tend to tell you exactly what is on the test when they have to think about how they would prepare for it and then you know exactly what to study)
